Cottage Pie & Black Eyes is coming to Trafford

Schools and youth groups are invited to come and watch a performance aiming to raise awareness of domestic and relationship abuse.

This is a multi-media production that tells the story of Jodie who is in an abusive teenage relationship and how over time this escalating abuse impacts on her life. The play also highlights issues of sexuality, adult domestic abuse, consent, sexting and the power of positive peer relationships. The play forms part of a wider training and education resource that equips staff with the knowledge and skills to explore with young people the impact of domestic abuse and how young people can spot the signs of an unhealthy relationship. The production is suitable for Year 8 upwards but school may decide they want all pupils to see the performance.   Black Eye’s and Cottage Pies was highlighted as good preventative practice in the Salford Joint Targeted Area Inspection and by Ann Coffey, MP in the CSE Report, Real Voices: Are They Being Heard?

The aim of this event is to support schools and other relevant partners to consider innovative ways to educate and inform the young people they work with about the complexities of domestic abuse and the warning signs for both the victim and the perpetrator, therefore supporting prevention and early help.

The session will take place on  Wednesday 7th February between 10-12pm at Lancashire Cricket Club.
